About Me

I have lived in the Stumbo home for two years now, and it has been a treat.  We have done some painting recently and are remodeling upstairs, by adding another bedroom.  I will take some more pics and would love to share them with you.

About Me

Carlisle is a major crossroad in my ancestry. Even though I've never lived in Carlisle,

I feel as though I'm home whenever I visit. My ancestors, whether they knew it or not,

were a part of the town's history. They worked on the railroad, owned a couple of

grocery stores, ran the funeral parlor, and helped in the establishment of the town's

Methodist church. They now rest in the town's cemetery, but I think their memories

are imprinted in the buildings that still stand.

I live in northern Iowa, but glad I can be connected to Carlisle through the web! Can't

wait to see future updates. Excited to see old pics!

About Me

My name is Rochelle and I live on the Oregon coast with my husband and children.

In my spare time I love to research my family's varied histories and while doing so I discovered that my maternal grandfather's family is from Warren county and surrounding areas. In fact, my maternal great-grandfather's sister, Lelia Mary (Wheeldon) Justus, lived in Carlisle with her husband, Luis Bauman Justus, and their children for many years while many other members of the family lived in Hartford.

Knowing this, I decided I would like to know more about the places my relatives have lived and started trying to learn about the communities in which they lived. That brought me here! I look forward to learning about the community (and the types of gatherings you guys have) and hope to one day visit the area and see it for myself!
